Planning Preliminary Task

Purpose: The purpose of the preliminary task is for my group to introduced the aspects of filming, in terms do cinematography and editing.

Scenario: The scenario in which we created is two students having a conversation about football and what they think about current players, such as Frank Lampard.

Roles For The Preliminary Task:  My task for the preliminary task, was for me to film (be the camera man). I had to use different camera angles for each scene. This means that I am most likely to take on the role of the camera man for my groups filming. Blaise and Darrell (a pupil in my media class) will have the roles of acting out the scenario for the preliminary task. Although Blaise is going to be the actor for the preliminary, he will be the 'Location Manager' and Divinia will be doing the music and directing.

Difficulties: The difficulties for our preliminary task was that we only had a day to film it, due to us being behind task due to our broken camera and having to re-film everything.

Benefits: The preliminary task has been beneficial because it gave us knowledge in how to use cinematography and everyone in the group got more knowledge in their assigned area which they had to do and gain experience.

Filming and Camera Angles

I was in charge of the filming as the groups camera man. This meant that I was required to film everything and from different angles.
I did a 'Side View' shot. A side view shot has an effect on the audience because it allows us to see the expression an the characters face and this will allow us to see how the character is feeling.
I had to do an 'Birds-Eye View' shot, which is basically an aerial shot which is catching the movement of the characters from above.

Logo of production company

Previously we liked the name 'Viva La Revolucion', but due to us not really being able to speak Spanish and that not really having a representation of our company, we decided to change our name to 'Royal Pictures' because Royal means to have a status and that is what we intend for this project to have, status.

Logo 1

When planning our logo, we first had to establish what we wanted our company to represent.
We used the colour blue for our first logo because we wanted our logo to represent trust and tranquility within the company. We had an image of a camera placed above the name of the company because a camera represents the capturing of objects and movement. We used a white background instead of a black one or any other colour because we felt that the colour white made the blue stand out more.

Logo 2

For this logo we felt that the logo needed to represent the name of our company. We however, didn't use any images because we wanted out company to come across as simple and that we only focus on the thriller. The colour gold was used because we felt that gold represented 'royalty' and due to the name of the company being Royaal Pictures, we thought that this logo was the right choice.

Chosen Logo

After days of creations, we decided to create a logo that would represent our company's meaning. Although we felt that the previous logo did just that, we thought it was too plain and needed a image. We decided to have a Lion as the image to represent the name because as you may know a lion is said to be a king of the jungle, which is royalty.

Editing Process

Editing
We were behind with our filming and editing because we filmed the first time, but we received a broken Flipcam (HD) which had all our saved filming. So this meant that we had to redo our filming, which put us behind and so we had to rush a bit, but the process so for is going great.

We found it hard at first to figure out the special effects and how to operate the editing program, which was Sony Vegas, so we decided to watch Youtube videos which instructed us in how to operate the program.
By the time we figured out how to use it we were well on our way and the end product is looking to be quite successful.

As you can see we made our writing have the Sitcom effect, which programs like 'Chuck' & 'Malcolm In The Middle' used for the writing.

'Stalker' - Naming our Thriller

Finding a name to call our thriller was quite a challenge. The problem in our group wasn't coming up with names, because in fact we all had ideas of names that the film could have been called; the problem was that we didn't agree an the names that we brought to mind. If one liked a name, then the other wouldn't and so on. In the end we ended up calling the film 'Stalker', which I'm glad to say I came up with the name of and for the film name, we had a creative epiphany. We decided as a team that in the name 'Stalker' we would have a man who is red, which represents blood, hiding behind the letter 'L', to have a have a kind of mystery/psychotic effect.
So in the end even though we had difficulties finding a name for the film, in the end Stalker was the name which was straight to the point and made the audience know what the film was about.
